Solarplicity Direct Debit

Got a question? Chances are, we’ve got the answer.

Actually, the answer is quite simple. Your Direct Debit amount is initially worked out based on what we call your ‘Estimated Annual Consumption’ – we use this figure to estimate your annual costs. We then divide it by 12 to get a monthly Direct Debit amount. In terms of using less energy in the summer, it’s worth remembering that, when you pay by Direct Debit, it’s normal to be in credit during the summer (when it’s warmer and you aren’t using so much gas and electricity). This credit can then be offset against the additional energy costs you might have in the winter. In a nutshell, that’s why your Direct Debit amount is the same each month.

We look at the amount you are paying each month, versus the amount of energy you are actually using. If it looks like you are paying too much – or too little – we make the decision to change your Direct Debit amount.

No worries. Just call us or send us an email with an up-to-date meter read and we’ll look into it more closely. We’ll work out how much credit you should be in for the particular time of year and refund any excess amount you might have paid us. Plus, we’ll also look to decrease your Direct Debit amount if there has been any overpayment.
